The Timeless Advice that Shaped My Life

At Memorygram, we are lucky enough to have our customers share their stories with our community blog and how Memorygram had an impact on them. Here is a story shared to the community by Laurie in Michigan.

Question: What was the best advice your father ever gave you?

When I think back to my younger days, a vivid memory surfaces of my father and me sitting on our worn-out porch swing, watching the world go by. The sun was setting, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. I had just had a spat with one of my many siblings, and I was feeling particularly downtrodden. Sensing my disheartenment, my father turned to me and said, “Laurie, remember this: It's not about being right or wrong, but understanding and kindness. Our family's strength lies in our unity.” This simple advice became the guiding light of my life.
